Add some fun to your Computer Desktop.

Being the creative, crafty person I am... I love changing up my desktop background all the time.  Being the frugal person that I am (occasionally, LOL) I always try to find a free way to do this.  So, this last time when I got the itch for change, I ran a search to find a new desktop background for my computer (of course I ran the search using SwagBucks , LOL), and found the Blue Mountain website .  They have a great assortment of desktop backgrounds available for free after a quick registration.  Blue Mountain also has several monthly desktop backgrounds that have a picture with a calender overlay. When I saw this rainbow with Psalms 27:1, I downloaded it.  What a stunning Rainbow! And with how easy it was to use the Blue Mountain website I can change my desktop every week! Blue Mountain is part of the AG Interactive Group, and specializes in greeting cards.  They state that all their downloads are Adware and Spyware free.  They are also connected in to Webshots . {I am simpl

Christmas Ornament Valance

To make this quick and easy ornament valance for my kitchen window, I used a tension rod, 13 ornaments, and a variety of holiday ribbons.  I really like how the ball ornaments reflect light and color in the window.  Another fun take on this would be to use some of your favorite tree decorations to decorate your window.  Or... maybe ornaments that are the same theme as your kitchen (i.e. roosters, cooking, fruits, etc.)! From the outside, visitors can also see your holiday decor too!  I took to decorating this window because I can see it everyday walking to our home.  Plus, being out in the middle of farm country can be very windy.  So, outside decorations have to be limited to things that won't bang on the siding or blow away the next time the wind decides to gust through.   I cut the ribbon is pieces from 16" to 22" long.  Tied them in a loop, ran one end of the loop through the ornament top and secured it, and then ran the loop over my tension rod and then popped the

Gifts for Men - A Random, Funny Post

Gifts for Men Buying gifts for men is not nearly as complicated as it is for women. Follow these rules and you should have no problems. Rule #1:  When in doubt - buy him a cordless drill. It does not matter if he already has one. I have a friend who owns 17 and he has yet to complain. As a man, you can never have too many cordless drills. No one knows why. Rule #2:  If you cannot afford a cordless drill, buy him anything with the word ratchet or socket in it. Men love saying those two words. "Hey George, can I borrow your ratchet?" "OK. By-the-way, are you through with my 3/8-inch socket yet?" Again, no one knows why. Rule #3:  If you are really, really broke, buy him anything for his car, a 99 cent ice scraper, a small bottle of deicer or something to hang from his rear view mirror. Men love gifts for their cars. No one knows why. Rule #4:  Never buy men bathrobes. Once I was told that if God had wanted men to wear bathrobes, he wouldn't have invented

Five Question Friday - 11/19/2010

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?   I absolutely loathe I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.  I don't know why, but all the versions I seem to hear have an overly squeaky female singing it, and it just drives me nuts! 2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?   Opposite sides of the bed with our own covers.  We both like wrapping up in our blankets, and so separate blankets keeps the peace. 3. Have you ever had surgery?   I have had two major surgeries, and will be having a c-section in January since Ms. T is coming so close to Ms. Diva.  4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?   Normally I tend to be a last minute shopper, but this year I am actually getting it done ahead of time! 5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?   I want a house.  Lots of square footage.  Bought and paid for so I can stay-at-home and keep it clean and play with the kiddos.

New Pair of Stay-Put Towels

When I saw this fabric, I just knew it would be perfect for someone.  Mr. SD is always making fun of one the worship team guys that is always saying Blah, Blah, Blah.  Is this fabric not perfect for that type of fun, gag gift.  I am thinking of taking a pair of these to a White Elephant party later in December.  Won't they make a fun addition to the party? Reuse that old silk shirt!

Since 'dejunking' my closet, I have been going through the clothes pile to see what I could reuse or repurpose for things I have been 'meaning' to make.  One thing I have had on my To-Do list for over a year now is to make Ms. Diva a Lovey Blankie.  Something incrediably soft and silky.  I have this lovely green leafy silk shirt (that hasn't fit in ages) that I just adore.  It has been in my closet for almost 10 years!  I wore it regularly when I had a dressy office job, but now I just wear jeans and t-shirts.  So... the silk shirt had to go away, sniff, sniff. Well, Ms. Diva loves plush fleeces at the fabric store and I have been 'meaning' to make her a lovey, so... How about I use the shirt I love and get some plush fleece to make her that lovey???? Here are the results: To make the blankie, I cut the largest square possible from the the shirt back.  Then I cut a matching piece from the fleece.  Sewed them together right sides together, leaving a fou

This week's feature shop is BooBooZoo where the focus is on fun pain management . My name is Michelle and I am a craft-a-holic!  I come from a long line of crafters and always took being crafty for granted. That is until I got married and moved away from that crafty family. For several years I knew something was missing but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Then a friend needed some help and I suggested us doing something crafty together and that’s when I figured it all out. It was almost like the weight of the world had been lifted! I need to craft just like I need air to breathe and my heart to beat!  It is an essential part of me and my being, and I think it was because of that crafty family that I learned an outlet for all my creat

Swagbucks for Xmas Gifts

I have posted before about 'trading' my SwagBucks for Amazon GCs and using them for general purchases.  Now with Christmas just over a month away I am working on 'saving' my SwagBucks to use for GCs (Gift Cards) for the wonderful, hard-to-shop for on my list. For Mr. SD - I am going to work towards an iTunes GC.  He loves downloading the latest songs, and so I know for sure this is one GC he would use and enjoy.  Just 1,300 more SwagBucks to go! To 'earn' SwagBucks' I simple use the site to run searches during my day that I would normally use Google for.  So instead of searching and searching and just getting answers, I am able to earn money (GCs) that I can use for almost anything.  What a way to earn some extra cash doing something you already do.  If you are interested in signing up, I would be honored for you to use the link below and sign up as one of my referrals. Merry Christmas!

Weekend Wrap - 11/8/2010

This week's Weekend Wrap has more to do with last week than the weekend.  Last week I participated in a Holiday Craft Fair, and had so much fun!  Did not keep up with the house cleaning very well while prepping for the fair, but... my closest is STILL CLEAN!!!!  This is the first time I have done a table space for a craft fair.  I figured out how to display the Stay-Put Towels on the curtain rods, and sold a lot of towels on Thursday.  Now, I am in the process of restocking my Spunky Diva etsy shop , and working with the new fabrics I recently ordered from Fabric.com . Here are some photos of The Spunky Diva table from the craft fair. The burp cloths were also a popular item that a lot of customers purchased.   I had fun doing more embroidered toilet paper.  I even purchased some Mylar designs to use, and they turned out very sparkly.  I used the back side of some glittery wrapping paper I had from last year.  On the family side of things... Ms. Diva is now walking more each
