Sew-On Fabric Labels

One of my goals this next year is to take my sales part of crafting and create a more 'professional' image with my products.  I think putting labels on the towels and items I create is a step forward in doing this.  So, I ordered sew-on labels from Mommie Made It , a fellow Etsy shop.  Here is how they arrived: I used a straight edge and a rotary cutter to separate the rows of labels. Then I used a pair of small scissors to make the small cuts between labels. Each cut label is placed in a mason jar (I love reusing glass jars) .  I used a piece of fabric, secured with a hair band, as the lid so that the labels could breath.  I am not sure if this is important or not with labels.   They fit easily on the shelf, and are easy to see.  (Next thing to do is tidy up the shelf, LOL) Here is a picture of one of the labels sewn onto a Valentine's Stay-Put Towel . Now that you have spent the Holiday money... Can you help Cliff?

Grandpa's Christmas Gift - Bathroom Towels

Mom and I are working on sprucing up Grandpa's room, and we found this wonderful blue and tan flower motif fabric on clearance.  A nice blue that matches the 'wonderful' blue carpet already in his room.  The house is pretty much inundated with country blue as you can see from previous shots of the kitchen . I hand gathered the fabric for the ruffle at the bottom of the towels.  I am not sure where exactly I first saw the project that gave me the idea to do this gathered fabric on the towels, but here is a great tutorial on creating ruffled fabric at Simply Modern Mom .  I know that I have certainly been inspired by this pillow at The Shabby Chic .  The Elegant Embossed Monogram font is one that I purchased from www.Secretsof.com (where I also purchased my Embird embroidery software).  Grandpa was very happy with the towels. Christmas Gift for Myself

I meant to post this before Christmas, but...  Better late than never, LOL! Here is the embroidery hoop set I have been meaning to get since last Christmas.  I decided that I just needed to go ahead and get it.  I added a couple feet for my sewing machine, and the hoops came with seven spools of thread. I even got a pile of Cami's to use for crafts! It was a very merry preChristmas for me.

Ms. Diva's new outfit.

Ms. Diva's Christmas/Winter outfit is from It's My Favorite Boutique on Etsy .  It came in the mail last week, and I just had to grab Ms. Diva, take some picks, and show it off to you guys! Ms. Diva is completely in love with shoes.  She must have a pair on her feet, and a pair in her hands, LOL!  It is funny how a month ago she could walk, but felt that crawling was much better, and faster.  Now, she has completely changed her tune, and is walking everywhere.  We have to keep a close watch on her outside, because she has figured out that she can walk out to where the horses are.  Not to mention the pond, and all the other 'fun' things outside.  Gravity always works. Search and Rescue Where O' Where could it have gone? I have all my Christmas shopping done, but am waiting for a few things to arrive in the mail still.  The only problem... Is that I have not been able to find our Christmas Stockings ANYWHERE?!?!?!  At this point I will be grabbing fabric on Wed

New Font for Aggie Stay-Put Kitchen Towels

I updated the A&M towel design.  I am now using a steel gray for the embroidery on one and the bold maroon for the other towel.  I also changed the "Aggie Pride" font into a script font.

Elgin Wildcat Stay-Put Kitchen Towels

A new Stay-Put Kitchen Towel set that is sure to be a local favorite.  In fact this pair has already sold, and another pair ordered, LOL! The local school district is the Wildcats, and uses a lovely royal purple color with white.  This goes right along with the white microfiber towels.

Five Question Friday - 12/17/2010

1. Do you regift...and if so, do you have a regifting horror story?   I have regifted in the past, but... no horror stories.  Hard to have a horror story when it was a gift basket of soaps that you kinda just send on down the road.  I figure no harm no foul.  Personally, I would rather have someone regift I give them if it turns out to be the wrong 'type' of gift for them.  Then at least they get to use it, LOL! 2. Do you know what you are getting for Christmas this year?  Yup.  I am a horrible pest and secrets just drive me up the wall.  Plus, everyone wants to keep the pregnant lady happy, and believe me I am working that angle.  I think there are going to be a couple I may not know about, but I am trying not to think about those. 3. Who brings the most gifts in your family, you or Santa?   I think my mom will be winning that award this year.  Ms. Diva has certainly scored.  In the next couple years as Ms. Diva and Ms. T are toddlers I am sure that Santa will win that con

Quick and Easy Ornament Craft Project

Do you need quick and easy ornament for an ornament exchange this last weekend before Christmas?  Here is how I created two ornaments for the Church's Ornament Exchange last weekend.  For less than $10.00. $2.50 box of ornaments from Wal-Mart (the ones I didn't use are going on the tree) $3.00 fluffy stuff from Hobby Lobby (was less because it was on sale) I used black ribbon I had, but you could add dollar or two to buy fresh ribbon, and still come out under $10.00. The fluffy stuff was self-stick.  I wrapped it twice around the stem of the ornament sticking as I went.  The stick 'ums weren't very strong, so I tied a piece of ribbon over top of the fluff.  Cut another piece to for the hanger.  I tied the loop at the base and top so the loop wouldn't move around as much.  Then with a black sharpie I put the year.  I got both ornaments done in less than 10 minutes.  If you had some fun fringe scraps that would work wonderfully too!  Happy Crafting!

Custom Letter Fob Order

Here are three letter fobs special ordered as stocking stuffers.  I love how these stitch out!  Plus, with the circle applique design, they make excellent in-the-hoop tags. Check out the Custom Spunk section of the shop for fabric combos available.

Wordless Wednesday, 12/15/2010 (sorta)

Hey there ~ Here are the photos I intended for Monday's Weekend Wrap post, but... with several towel orders from the Etsy store I got behind.  What a reason to be behing though, eh?  I can't believe what a great response I have had to selling the Stay-Put Kitchen Towels.  They are even availalbe at Lather's, a hair salon here in Elgin, Texas! So, here are the photos with short explanations.  I hope you enjoy them, and get a giggle out of Ms. Diva's candid shots. {Fruit Comma} {We Need You} {I trully love how this tree came out.} {I added a fun garland over the present spot.  Out of Ms. Diva's reach, for now.} {Tutorial here} {Never been used, but a favorite in the kitchen none-the-less} {How-To Post to come for this cute, quick ornament} Here are two pairs of special ordered Stay-Put Towels.  The crazy thing is that I have been sewing towels like crazy, and most of them are already sold.  Need to keep sewing to get the inventory back up, LOL! {I just

Reuse Forumla Cylinder for Festive Remote Holder

I have 'several' of these containers that I started saving when I realized Christmas was coming.  Here is one way I used a container to add a festive, low-cost touch to our living room. The formula container is this shining silver when you take of the label.  So, I just added a fun collection of ribbon to make it 'Christmasy'.  I put a spot of hot glue on the back of the container and attached the middle of the ribbon there to start with.  Then tying a knot at the front, I used more hot glue to secure the knot to the container in front.  And now you have a quick, easy, festive, gorgeous, etc. holiday touch for your living room. What I would do differently next time: - make sure before cutting that my ribbon was long enough.  I ran out of ribbon to make a pretty bow, but... - I would probably make the ribbon band on the container first, and then do a bow separately and then hot glue the bow onto the ribbon band.
