The pieces are cut, but…

No piecing happening today it seems.  This past week has been very slow, almost nonexistent, as far as progress on the P2 Quilt-along front.  Last Sunday a cold front blew in and brought some weird stuff in with it.  We have all been down with the sniffles and coughs.  Making my two little Diva’s bigger handfuls than usual.  I have gotten all the pieces cut for Blocks 6, 7, and 8.  Maybe later when the kiddos go to bed {assuming I don’t just head to bed myself, LOL} I will get one or two of these pieced together. Block 6 ~ Tail Spin My pieces ~ Block 7 ~ Stacked! My pieces ~ Block 8 ~ Four Wheeler My pieces ~

Giveaway at Applique Addict

Marjorie, over at Applique Addict, is celebrating her 200th post with a fantastic, quilty giveaway !  She has two different sets the winner can pick from.  One for hand-stitchers, and for one {for people like me} that wouldn’t be caught hand-stitching, LOL! For the hand-stitching persuasion… … for the sewing machine users. Aren’t these fabrics positively gorgeous?

Thredup ~ Swap clothes with other parents!

Hey There ~ I just found out about this fun company called ThredUp.  It is a site where you can list a box of clothes your children are no longer using for other parents to find, and you can get a box of clothes for just $5 + $10.95 shipping.  They use flat rate shipping boxes to keep the shipping costs low, and each box is stuffed with clothes.  The boxes are 'labeled' with type, size, and season.  Making it easy for you to find and fill gaps in your growing child's wardrobe.  Signing up is free.  You only pay if you find a box you want to 'buy'.  The site has a fantastic F.A.Q. page that has lots of info on how the process works. I don't know about you, but I am getting tired of going to Goodwill and then seeing the high prices they want me to pay for a 2T tank-top.  I am seriously thinking of giving Thredup a try.  I won't even have to drive anywhere.  How convinent is that? Five Question Friday ~ 5/6/2011

Another week has raced by…my babies are that much closer to leaving home, and it is a week I will never be able to relive.  Thank God!  Yes, it was one of those weeks, that just goes from a chaotic Monday to worse.  On the plus side ~ My Accuquilt GO! Baby arrived!!!!!  I have already used it to cut shapes to applique onto my Mug Rug for the Mug Rug Swap No. 4 .  I even have my Mug Rug pieced and ready to be appliqued upon.  Shocking as that seems.  I posted sneak peak shots earlier this week.  I can’t wait to add the applique and binding.  Sign-up for their e-mail newsletter and receive two pdf files full of quilt block ideas.  Plus, they have announced the winner of their Quilt Block Contest . 1. Have you ever had roommates?  Sorta.  I lived with my Grandpa here in Texas as a roommate type thing.  I am sure he was the most considerate roommate ever.  I never had to worry about what I put in the refrigerator...

May’s Charity ~ Quilts for Kids

MISSION STATEMENT: Transforming discontinued, unwanted and other fabrics into patchwork quilts that comfort children with life-threatening illnesses and children of abuse. A Letter from the Founder It seems like only yesterday that I discovered a wealth of discontinued fabric samples being thrown away. In those days it never occurred to me that we’d be an International organization today. I was only looking to save some fabric samples from a landfill. I was assured by all my friends and family that this was a dumb idea and no one would make quilts for some stranger’s child…and do it for free! Well, all these years later you have managed to prove these naysayer’s wrong, for you have given from your heart and helped to turn tears into smiles for the tens of thousands of children that you never even knew existed. In 2007 the majority of fabric mills moved offshore to places like Korea, China & Japan. The US government did not bail them out like they did the auto and banking i...
