Does your microwave need cleaning, but you hate dealing with hard to clean crusty spills? Check out this quick fix!
After you wash dishes pour/dump a tablespoon of baking soda on your wet sponge. Pop that sucker into the microwave and nuke for 2 to 4 minutes. With rubber gloves on {the sponge is going to be hot, hot, hot} wipe down the inside of the microwave.
The baking soda is a great cleaning agent, and the steam from the super hot sponge will have helped to soften the crusties in the microwave. An added bonus is that the baking soda will help neutralize any smell you sponge is taking on, and the nuking will help kill any bacteria living in you sponge!
You can also stick a microwavealbe measuring cup full of several cups of water, nuke that for 6 minutes, and then wipe down the microwave.
Thanks for the tip! My microwave can get so nasty sometimes.

Oh cool I'm going to have to try this!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I used to just toss a mug of water in there for a minute to "loosen the crusties" but your sponge idea is waaaay better. Gonna do that from now on. Thanks!
