Here are some photos of how I put Block 1 together. It took me 2.5 hours with some minor/small {think 2 month-old baby small} breaks. For more details on this block and more details, check out the Week 1 post on P2’s Blog.
First Step… I used my 1/4” foot to make sure I was getting my seam allowance right. I lined up the edge of the foot with the diagonal line, and off I went. This part went fairly quickly. It actually worked just like on Fon's and Porter’s Love of Quilting show… imagine… they know what they are doing on that show, LOL!
Here are the triangles pressed open. You can see how the block is going to look when finished. This is where I stopped and rechecked the P2 site to make sure all the triangles/fabrics where in the correct locations. I am using the reverse side of the tan pawprints fabric to mute the pattern on the fabric since it is my ‘white’ fabric.
Then I matched the blocks up and stacked them so I could chain stitch them. This method does save time, but make sure to double check you are stitching the right blocks on the right sides. Amazingly enough I did not have to tear out any seams when piecing this block together {I consider that a minor miracle}.
These two came out almost perfect.
This one… not so much.
And like any ‘great’ piece of art… the finished block is displayed on the refrigerator for all to admire.
i wish i knew how to use my sewing machine. i am always impressed with people who can sew so beautifully!!
ReplyDeleteoh i went to reply to your comment on my blog, i always like to reply via email and your email address is not enabled.
ReplyDeletedid you know that?
this means that you spend so much time leaving lovely comments on people's blogs and they have no way of responding to a question or thanking you for stopping by or just continuing the conversation...because instead of your email address all they see is "no-reply comment".
sad right?
you can fix that if you like.
just go to your dashboard, click edit profile and click show email address and then click save profile.
easy!!!
and i PROMISE if you change this blogging will get even better and become even more fun!
You did a great job! I would love to do a small quilt...some day! I think I am intimidated about a big project! But you've got a great idea to enjoy it! ♥
