Mom and I are working on sprucing up Grandpa's room, and we found this wonderful blue and tan flower motif fabric on clearance. A nice blue that matches the 'wonderful' blue carpet already in his room. The house is pretty much inundated with country blue as you can see from previous shots of the kitchen.
I hand gathered the fabric for the ruffle at the bottom of the towels. I am not sure where exactly I first saw the project that gave me the idea to do this gathered fabric on the towels, but here is a great tutorial on creating ruffled fabric at Simply Modern Mom. I know that I have certainly been inspired by this pillow at The Shabby Chic. The Elegant Embossed Monogram font is one that I purchased from www.Secretsof.com (where I also purchased my Embird embroidery software). Grandpa was very happy with the towels.
Such a neat idea! They are beautiful! Hope you had a great Christmas!
