5QFriday ~ 5/13/2011 {belated post}

Due to all the blogger issues last week, and then working at a H/J horse show this weekend, I am a little/lot late in getting these questions and answer posted.  On another note… I am going to be switching to a Wordpress blog, and am in the process of getting it set up.  If you want to watch the progress {and change your bookmarks} the new blog’s site address is www.TheSpunkyDiva.net .  I will switch/redirect the domain www.TheSpunkyDiva.com once I have all the blogger content moved over. Five Question Friday at My Little Life 1. Tube socks, calf socks, crew, ankle, none? (From @ThisDaddys_Blog ) – I love to go sockless when I am wearing slip-on shoes {which I love to wear}, but… when  I am wearing sneakers I wear angle socks.  And when wearing boots it is calf socks.  I only use tube/knee high socks under my tall riding boots.  Can you tell I like to have a sock between me and my shoes? 2. Was your childs (children's) name a mutual decisi...

Five Question Friday ~ 5/6/2011

Another week has raced by…my babies are that much closer to leaving home, and it is a week I will never be able to relive.  Thank God!  Yes, it was one of those weeks, that just goes from a chaotic Monday to worse.  On the plus side ~ My Accuquilt GO! Baby arrived!!!!!  I have already used it to cut shapes to applique onto my Mug Rug for the Mug Rug Swap No. 4 .  I even have my Mug Rug pieced and ready to be appliqued upon.  Shocking as that seems.  I posted sneak peak shots earlier this week.  I can’t wait to add the applique and binding.  Sign-up for their e-mail newsletter and receive two pdf files full of quilt block ideas.  Plus, they have announced the winner of their Quilt Block Contest . 1. Have you ever had roommates?  Sorta.  I lived with my Grandpa here in Texas as a roommate type thing.  I am sure he was the most considerate roommate ever.  I never had to worry about what I put in the refrigerator...

Five Question Friday ~ 4/29/2011

1. If you could buy any car, money not an option, what would it be?  I just love my Tahoe.  I would like a new one with all the bells and whistles though.  Bluetooth and navigation systems are wonderful inventions! 2. What was your worst first date ever?  Very happy to say I have not had a bad first date.  Lucky, I know, and I don’t mind rubbing it in, LOL! 3. How old were you when you fell in love for the first time?  Early twenties.  Crushes… of course I had those as a pre-teen.  Any boy that like horses was fair game! 4. When was the last time you reconciled your checkbook?  I don’t, Mr. SD handles that {thank God!}. 5. If you were going to fashion a "Wanted" Ad for a best friend, how would you word it?  Honesty a must-have, sees the funny side of things, dysfunctional {Hey no one is perfect, but if they admit that you know what to expect .}, must love movies and books, spending hours in Joann’s optional, spendin...

5QF ~ 4/22/2011 plus Landscape Pictures

1. What is your favorite Easter tradition?   As a child it was definitely the Easter egg hunt, and getting a packed Easter Basket with a furry stuffed animal {gotta have the stuffed animal!}.  Now as a ‘mature’ adult {yeah, right} it is the family time.  It is amazing how the focus changes as we get older.  Family dinners are my favorite, and a holiday/special occasion just makes them that much sweeter. 2. Are you a "shower" or a "long, hot bath" kind of person?   I love a long, hot bath, but don’t currently have a bath tub.  So… I make do with the occasional long, hot shower.  Normally I am a speed showerer {that is definitely not a real word, but what else are you gonna call it?}, because every second I am in the shower I can just picture the gallons and gallons going down the drain. 3. Can you parallel park and if so when is the last time you did it?   I did it for my driver’s test in the farm truck that had an extra lo...

5QF ~ 4/15/2011

Tax Day!!!!  Mine are going in the mail today.   Are yours already done?  We owed this year, and so waited till the end to send the money in.  1. What is your favorite sign of spring?   All the flowers and blossoming trees.  We were out playing last night {Ms. Diva was playing, Ms. T and I were supervising}, and it was such a nice evening.  Ms. Diva figured out that the bucket would go on her head like hat.  That was like looking at a picture of my 30-something years ago.  2. What was your best birthday ever?   Birthday’s have never been that great for me, but… The birthday before Ms. Diva was born my whole family {Grandpa, Parents, and Mr. SD} went in on a camcorder for me.  That was pretty special. Though I still remember my Grandma bringing me balloons for my sixteenth b-day.  That was super special. 3. What is your favorite dessert?   Anything chocolate!  I also like anything with sugar ~ Strawberry Sho...

5 Question Friday ~ 4/8/2011

1. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?  Probably my attitude.  I hate that it is sooooo hard to change sometimes.  Seriously, how many times do I have to promise myself I wont procrastinate or hold a grudge?  It gets very redundant. 2. Write about a time when you got lost.  Well… I can get lost in a paper bag {walking or driving}…  I prefer to call it exploring.  Being in the middle of nowhere there are lots of back roads, and some of them don’t go where you ‘think’ they should go.  I spent 45 minutes taking a ‘short-cut’ to come out a lot closer to home than the store I was trying to get to.  Saw some very pretty places along the way though, LOL. 3. Camping or 5 star hotel?  How about both?  There are some awesome vacation spots in Africa where technically you are camping, but… it is much more like a resort.  I love camping, and I like luxury so it is a hard choice.  There are plenty of beaut...

5QF ~ 4/1/2011

1. Have you ever had surgery?  Yup… two c-sections and my appendix removed in third grade { a long time ago, LOL } 2. Ever ride in an ambulance?  Yup… I have horses.  Do I need to explain further?  I think I am up to at least four rides in an ambulance from my childhood.  I haven’t had one in a ‘while’… keeping my fingers crossed. 3. How are you in a medical emergency? Panicked? Calm?  I can follow directions well.  If it involves horses I am good.  If it is people { strangers } I do okay, family… not so calm, but can still follow directions as I hyperventilate. 4. Do you have a garden? Flowers or veggies?  I love growing flowers, and we grow tomatoes too.  We did try a more extensive veggie garden last year, but kinda killed it, LOL!  So… this year we are going to just to tomatoes. 5. When did you move out of your parents house?  About 20.  Moved to Texas, and moved in with my Grandpa, LOL!  As others have point...

5QF - 3/11/2011

1. Do you know what your REAL hair color is?  Yes!  After coming out with orange, black, and white after a dye job gone bad... I haven't dyed my hair since.  Something about looking like a clown puts me off home science experiments, LOL! 2. Do you plan ahead for summer, or fly by the seat of your pants?   Well... I work.  If we were looking at taking a trip with the girls when they are older I am sure that we would plan.  But I also hope that we do some fun spur-of-the-moment things as well. 3. What is your favorite meal to cook?  Favorite to cook {and eat!} is spaghetti.  Easy to do, very enjoyable and it always comes with bread! 4. Do you get offended by not receiving thank yous?  You should definitely say thank-you, if you aren't going to write a note.  My $0.02 worth though is that a formal, written thank-you is not required.  But... I am still working on writing thank-yous to family and friends for all the wonderful, thou...

Five Question Friday - 2/25/2011

1. Can you drive a stick shift? I sure can.  My first two cars were both manuals, and then my beater car that I had before the Tahoe {which I absolutly adore, just FYI} was also a manual.  I do think they are 'funner' to drive {yes I do realize that 'funner' isn't a word, but... it is funner to say funner, LOL} .  As a mom though, the automatic is much easier with the kiddos in the backset. 2. What are two foods you just can't eat? Anything creepy... like weird creepy.  This includes snails and fish eggs.  Other than that I am pretty equal opportunity on food.  Mr. SD has introduced me to lots of foods I didn't eat, and most of them are just fine.  Though I have yet to appreciate Milk Toast .  I guess Milk Toast is a food I would really rather not eat. 3. Do you buy Girl Scout Cookies? What is your favorite kind? I typically don't buy them anymore since they have become sooooooo expensive.  Thin Mints are my all time favorite, and then th...

Five Question Friday - 2/18/2011

1. Have you worn the same outfit more than one day in a row?   Definitely... if clean, and only worn for a couple hours.  I.E. I wore something to church, and then wear it to work the next day.  This definitely doesn't happen now, LOL!  Have two kiddos under two means that I am 'decorated' within five minutes of putting any outfit on.  I specialize in wearing machine wash and dry clothes now. 2. If you had to choose any LARGE city to live in, which would it be?   London.  I hate big cities so I might as well be living somewhere completely different, right?  London/England is somewhere I have always wanted to explore.  I did a day trip into London when we had an 8-hour layover, and it was a lot of fun but left me wanting to spend more time there. 3. Fly or drive with the kids on vacation?   Either.  I think road trips are a necessary part of growing up.  And even though they seem to last forever... they do eventually end....

Five Question Friday - 2/11/2011

1. Would you rather be on ABC's Extreme Home MakeOver or TLC's What not to Wear? Let's see... New home or clothes?  Definitely the new home!!!  Plus I adore Ty, and would love to meet him.  And a new house?  Sign me up! I would love to be on almost any HGTV show too.  I am not picky, LOL! 2. Do you have any tattoos?  Nope.  I have a thing against self-imposed pain.  I had a hard enough time getting my years pierced, LOL.  Though I have contemplated a small butterfly before, but wussed out before going through with it.  Plus, I couldn't see spending $80 on something that would be a painful experience. 3. Do you tell your kids about things you did growing up?   Not really.  It is hard to tell a 16-month-old and a 3-week-old life stories, LOL.  I most likely will as they get older though. 4. If the traffic signal turns yellow, do you stop or speed up?   If I am far away enough to stop, I will stop.  I a...

Five Question Friday, 1/28/2011

Hey Everyone ~ I can't believe Ms. T is already eleven days old!  She is doing very well, and she has her one week/two week old check-up today {I will tweet her new stats when we get out of the Doctor's office}.  Ms. Diva continues to amaze with me with how helpful she is trying to be.  No mean feat for a 15-month-old.  She already has an 'understanding' that Ms. T's binkies are not hers, and is determined that the baby's bottle needs to be held by the person holding the baby.  Otherwise she will hand you the baby's bottle, LOL!  Having Ms. T at home motivated me to finally get around to redoing the seat cushion for the rocking chair.  A task that had been on my to-do list for waaaaaaay to long.  Here are the results. I am not terribly thrilled with the finished look, but it is uber comfy.  I used a four inch foam from Joann's {purchased New Year's on sale}, and some micro-suede {also purchased at Joann's during the New Year's sale}....

Five Question Friday ~ 1/14/2011

1. What movie could you watch over and over again and not get tired of?   Last of the Mohicans.  I have watched that movie so many times, LOL!  It is all about having a good cry type movie.  Beautiful scenery, beautiful music, beautiful leading man.  Need I say more? 2. What's your biggest pet peeve right now?   I am sure I have one, but right now I am sooooo ready to not be pregnant that issues with others is not high on my list at the moment. Speaking of that... Ms. T should be making her arrival any day now (which makes it even harder to still be pregnant). 3. If you had to describe your best friend in five words or less, what would you say?   Only five words... that doesn't leave much room for clarifications... let's see... Best Friend, Fun, Trustworthy, and Listens. 4. If you did not have to worry about money or go to school what would you do for a living?   Be a stay-at-home mom that gets to craft and blog about it.  The crafti...

Five Question Friday, 1/7/2010

It is hard to believe that the first Friday of 2011 is already here!!!  I already miss Christmas.  With all the family in town, being close to my due date, and all the stuff I have been sewing for The Spunky Diva on Etsy , I fell like I kinda just skipped and hopped right over Christmas this year.  I did do more decorating this year than last at the Cottage , but certainly was not a big help in decorating the big house. We also dealt with Ms. Diva being sick for the first time.  Not bad since we made it to fourteen months without her being sick.  It was a lot scarier than I thought it would be with her not being herself.  Miss raring to go first thing in the morning with no time to cuddle (especially with her mommy), just laid on my chest and didn't even 'talk' to the dogs.  Freaky. She then very helpfully spread her germs.  I ended up going down Wednesday, just before my Prenatal visit so my Doctor was able to prescribe anti-nauseous pills (of ...

Five Question Friday - 12/17/2010

1. Do you regift...and if so, do you have a regifting horror story?   I have regifted in the past, but... no horror stories.  Hard to have a horror story when it was a gift basket of soaps that you kinda just send on down the road.  I figure no harm no foul.  Personally, I would rather have someone regift I give them if it turns out to be the wrong 'type' of gift for them.  Then at least they get to use it, LOL! 2. Do you know what you are getting for Christmas this year?  Yup.  I am a horrible pest and secrets just drive me up the wall.  Plus, everyone wants to keep the pregnant lady happy, and believe me I am working that angle.  I think there are going to be a couple I may not know about, but I am trying not to think about those. 3. Who brings the most gifts in your family, you or Santa?   I think my mom will be winning that award this year.  Ms. Diva has certainly scored.  In the next couple years as Ms. Diva and Ms. T ...

Five Question Friday - 12/3/2010

It is Friday again!   On the one hand I am excited, since I get to go help decorate at Mr. SD's mom's place, but on the other hand I have sew much sewing to get down too!  Mom found several new fabrics for me to make up into Kitchen curtains.  I promised to get them done last weekend, but ended up with a lot of hip pain due to being preggars.  So... I am going to get them done this weekend, and that way she can change out her fun summer kitchen curtain for a wintery snowflake fabric.  I have to admit that the fun summery one is just not cutting it with all the christmas decor in the kitchen/dining room now, LOL! Here are my 5QF answers.  Remember you can link up too! 1. What's on the top of your holiday wish list and why?   I want everyone to have a good holiday.  You know when everything goes smoothly, or at least no one gets their knickers in a knot when it doesn't go perfectly.  I want to create some fun memories that we can remember for...

Five Question Friday - 11/19/2010

1. What Christmas song do you loathe?   I absolutely loathe I saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus.  I don't know why, but all the versions I seem to hear have an overly squeaky female singing it, and it just drives me nuts! 2. Do you and your significant other cuddle at night or sleep on opposite sides of the bed?   Opposite sides of the bed with our own covers.  We both like wrapping up in our blankets, and so separate blankets keeps the peace. 3. Have you ever had surgery?   I have had two major surgeries, and will be having a c-section in January since Ms. T is coming so close to Ms. Diva.  4. When do you typically have your holiday shopping done?   Normally I tend to be a last minute shopper, but this year I am actually getting it done ahead of time! 5. If money were not an issue (and you HAD to pick something), what would your ultimate luxury item be?   I want a house.  Lots of square footage.  Bought and paid for so I can stay-at-home...

Five Question Friday - 10/22/2010

Another week has flown by...   I have been busy getting Stay-Put Towels ready for the holiday craft fairs.  I have one show confirmed, and another one still pending.  Both are indoor events, and should be a lot of fun.  This weekend I will be working on holiday themed burp cloths, and should have some pictures ready for Monday's weekend wrap. In case you missed it last week; we announced the winner of the 200 Follower Giveaway .  Check out the post, and find out which pair of towels she claimed! Here are this week's Five Questions from My Little Life : 1. Who is the better cook, you or your spouse?   Definitely him.  Ex-firefighter and all, LOL!  He loves to cook, and actually cares what he eats.  I am just one of those cook whatever is easy and be done with it.  So... I do a lot of dishes. 2. How often do you talk to your mom?   All the time.  We live close, and are always calling each other too.  She takes care of ...

Five Question Friday - 10/15/2010

1. What is your favorite Halloween candy?   For sure my favorite is candy corn.  Nothing but sugar baby!  Ms. Diva will be a little candy corn this year for Harvest Festival.  So, stay tuned for the adorable pictures.  PS - this is my first ever costume sewing endevor. 2. Do you fold your socks?   Nope.  Keeping up with laundry is hard enough.  I used to when I had different types and colors.  Now all of my socks (and hubby's) are just plain white/black footies.  Hubby does have tall socks for work, so his are seperated by footies and tall. 3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?   I have probably been warned about everything.  Every time I look back on a poor decision or a circumstance I wish wasn't happening, I can see/hear someone giving me their opinion (or warning) about that exact issue.  Either I didn't remember or did it anyways, LOL!  What do they say... hindsight is 20/20. 4. Wh...
