Book Review - Bittersweet, by Shauna Niequist

Are you looking for some reality in your walk with God? Do you want to read a book that tells it as it is rather than one that tends towards a preaching tone? In her book, Bittersweet, Shauna Niequist shares thoughts on change, grace, and learning the hard way. No preaching tone in this book! In an easy to read style (and easy to relate to) Shauna's second book, published by Zondervan, shares a period of her life full of change. Each chapter shows another thought on life, family or God by way of a situation she is facing or a realization she is making. Shauna bears skeletons from her closet, and lets you in where even your best friends may not let you enter. Her down to earth writing style was very easy to follow, and full of wit and artful illustrations. The reality of the situations she shares can and do happen to everyone. I was deeply touched by her story. It showed me how others can have similar doubts and questions about their lives. No matter how 'together' they s...

Give Away - AccuQuilt at Qubee Quilts

Okay... this weekend I am a hopeless giveaway blogger.  My apologies, LOL!  But, I found one more giveaway I have to post about.  There is another AccuQuilt Giveaway going on at Qubee Quilts .  I want an AccuQuilt so desperately that I have taken to searching (using SwagBucks of course) for AccuQuilt giveaways.  They used the AccuQuilt with the circle die cut set at Sewing Club to create easy to position appliques.  All I can think about now is how great it would be, and how easy it would be, to use an AccuQuilt to create Holiday table scarves.  You could use these two die sets to create wonderful holiday decorations!   {Jumbo Winter Collection} {Jumbo Fall Collection} How they did the applique shapes, was they used Steam-A-Seam 2 and applied it to the fabric to be cut.  Then centered the fabric under the size circle they wanted, and rolled it on through the AccuQuilt.  The way she did it there was not much fabric waste (no more th...

My finds at Sewing Club

Five Question Friday, 9/24/2010

Another week has flown by!  It is almost October and time for our trip to visit family and friends in WA State.  I am very excited, but have a lot to get done this next week, not to mention this weekend!  I have been busy with the Etsy store, and have many items just waiting to be listed.  The sun has not been keeping up it's part of the bargain this week, and so I am hoping to get some final item photos and do some major listing before our trip.  Here are just a couple items I am waiting to get the final pictures of before listing at www.SpunkyDiva.etsy.com . If you missed this week's guest post , take a moment and check it out!  Jen's (from Frugal Invitation ) post was on how to make the best use of store coupons.  A topic most of us could always use some help with!  I am looking for several guest posts to use over the next month.  If you have a tutorial or how-to post that you would like to have featured here on The Spunky D...
